DeeDee Han: Pusheen the Cat
I created a SolidWorks model of my favorite fat cat Pusheen
and 3D printed a copy. She is extremely popular in Facebook stickers and
Tumblr, and even has her own website.
I created the design in SolidWorks, using fillets to round her body, tail,
feet, ears, mouth, and eyes. I created her tail by using the flex feature,
bending a cylinder and attaching it to her body. I created her mouth by drawing
3 splines. I printed Pusheen with her back to the
print bed, and turned supports on so that the printer could provide supports
for her tail and top feet. These supports were easy to remove once she was done
printing. The whiskers are some wire that I glued on after 3D printing, since
the whiskers are so thin that supports would be difficult to remove without
breaking the whiskers off.
Pusheen is
well-known for being round, wide, and not proportionally sized. For example,
her feet, ears, and tail are very disproportionally small compared to the size
of her body. This contributes to her adorableness, which I have modeled as
closely as I can to the original.
