Jamie Wang: Engine Blade
This project is the start of a replica of the "Engine Blade" used by Noctis, the main character of Final Fantasy XV. The blade has a very iconic design, and my end goal was to create a 3D model that could be 3D printed as a life size prop. Due to time and material constraints, the entire sword was not modeled, and only the gear was printed as a demonstration. However, I also modeled the handle to test it out in an assembly. Additionally, since the NVBots are not the highest quality and cannot capture the small details present, I would like to finish modeling the rest of the sword and printing it on a higher end printer.

For the final turn-in component, I 3D printed the central gear in two halves to prevent the detail from getting lost on the bottom (not sure if this would have happened, but just in case). I only printed the central plate once, and laser cut out the honeycomb pattern.Everything was scaled down by 50% to avoid taking up too much time on the printers, but this also made the text not show up, and the two cylindrical slots did not come out properly on the center plate.

Interesting Features:
- The central gear uses some features in Solidworks that we did not go over in class, such as the Draft and Wrap features. Drafts were used to get a sloped extrusion, and a wrap was used to perform a cut around the circular body of the central gear.
- The honeycomb pattern of hexagons was generated using a linear pattern with angled offsets and mirrors.
- The center piece features two cylindrical slots to help position correctly; this is because the hexagonal portion was cut from acrylic and needed to be attached first.
