Vickie Long: Tiny Rick
This is a 3d printed model of the character Tiny Rick from the show Rick
and Morty.
Unfortunately, it can‰Ûªt stand on its own
(hence the tape in the photo).
I modeled the character by splitting it up into 3 parts: the head, the
torso, and the bottom. I first obtained a vague sense of proportions by looking
at an image of the full character body. To model the head, I looked at a
separate image of the head, and used several revolved boss/base features for
the eyes, the nose, and the head itself. For the hair, I created several cones
and used different planes to position them onto the head properly. The eyebrows
were a wrap feature.
To model the torso, I used a simple extruded boss/base feature and added
fillets on the sides. I used a swept boss/base feature for the shoulders and a
lofted boss/base feature for the arms. For the hands, I used elliptical domes
that protruded from the ends of the arms, and for the fingers, I used several
revolved boss/base features.
To create the bottom, I similarly used lofted boss/base features for the
legs, and for the shoes I added fillets to extruded boss/base features.
I printed out the parts separately, so to ensure that they could be placed
together, I added a small circular hole to the top of the bottom and to the top
of the torso, and added a small circular extension to the bottom of the torso
and to the head (in this case, I just lengthened the neck).
