[OpenAFS] Need an update on 1.3.71 Win and Linux

Having trouble getting 1.3.17 for Windows and Linux to play together on a
SuSE 9.1/2.6xx kernel

Windows finds openafs.org OK but won't authenticate to Linux.
The Linux client won't authenticate either:

klog admin
Password:
Unable to authenticate to AFS because AuthServer returned incorrect
response.

extern void *sys_call_table;
EXPORT_SYMBOL(sys_call_table);
Was added to SuSE 9.1 linux-2.6.5-7.108/arch/i386/kernel/i386_ksyms.c.

the kernel makes OK but:
./configure --with-afs-sysname=i386_linux26
--with-linux-kernel-headers=/usr/src/linux \
  --enable-transarc-paths --enable-largefile-fileserver
--enable-namei-fileserver

carps: configure: warning: Cannot determine sys_call_table status. assuming
it isn't exported

Not withstanding, after compiling with --disable-kernel-module and
recompiling
 with it back in a viable make install was accomplished.

The server and client daemons look OK

Any clues? I'm trying to keep to krb4 because of my existing servers.

Heimdal is not running.
