[OpenAFS] Very odd pts database issue

This one has me mystified:

(root) windlord:~> pts exam 32766
(root) windlord:~> pts delete 32766
(root) windlord:~> pts exam 32766
(root) windlord:~> pts createuser -name ajbut -id 32766
pts: Entry for id already exists ; unable to create user ajbut with id 32766 

Any ideas on how to fix this, beyond just reserving that ID as bogus and
allocating a new one?

The completely empty output from pts exam is very odd.  I've never seen
that before.
