Peter Brown is Co-CEO of Renaissance Technologies. Peter and his colleague Robert Mercer have been responsible for the firm's equities operations since 1997 and responsible for all trading, research, and technical activities since 2003. Before joining Renaissance, Peter worked for nine years as a Research Staff Member at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, where he applied machine learning techniques to automatic speech recognition and natural language translation. Peter has a BA in mathematics from Harvard College and a PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.
