Adapted from the Roderick Thorp novel of the same name, the suspence and action-filled
drama follows a police detective who, despite warnings from his
superiors, conducts his own investigation into a grisly, multiple murder
case in Hollywood's Laurel Canton.
A barking dog leads detective Mike Gallagher (Peter Weller), the acting head of Hollywood's homicide division, to a nearby home on Rainbow Drive where he discovers what appears to be a brutal gangland style slaying of five people. To his surprise, he's swiftly taken off the case ans warned to steer clear by his partner (Dan Weitz) and his deputy chief Larry Hammond (David Caruso). When the police reports show there was only four victims, Detective Gallagher becomes increasingly suspicious of what can only be a cover-up and is unable to turn away from the case. He pursues police psychologist Laura Demming (Sela Ward) who, unbeknownst to Gallagher, is actually an undercover FBI agent. Armed with information she provides, teh detective begins searching for answers to the mysterious murders and apparent police cover-up. Soon, he's entangled in the world of drugs, vice and corruption, pitting him against an underhanded police comissioner, a murderous drug dealer, a prominent business man and ultimately, one of the most dangerous men in Los Angeles. Starring are Peter Weller as Mike Gallagher, Sela Ward as Laura Demming, Bruce Weitz as Dan Crawford, David Caruso as Deputy Chief Larry Hammond, and Kathryn Harrold as Christine. |

Summary: | From UPN Promo Information:
Based on a true story, the film follows the thirty year
investigation of Jesse Marcel, a top intelligence officer at one of
America's most secretive military bases. In July, 1947, Marcel
identified strange wreckage found on a Rosell area ranch as a "downed
flying saucer." It is the only case in which the military officially
announced that it had recovered a flying saucer, then retracted its own
announcement. The incident is considered to be one of the most
well-documented and yet most mysterious of thousands of UFO reports
generated in the last 50 years. The film traces Marcel's subsequent
investigation into why, despite incontrovertable evidence, his
superiors claimed he made a mistake -- and what about the truth they
suppressed. Based on UFO Crash at Roswell by Kevin D. Randle and Donald R. Schmitt.
