Malani’s Doni is ready

Sinhala cinema’s screen queen Malani Fonseka’s latest tele drama production ‘Doni
has just been completed and will unfold on the small screen soon.

Doni, directed by young Vasitha Samaranayake, boasts of a heavy cast including
nearly 100 well known artistes.

Doni is the story of a girl who is brought up by another woman – a well-known lawyer.
Shamini Wikramasinghe is a lawyer who fights against social injustice. Her wealthy
husband has abandoned the family and married a young woman. Shamini’s children are
being educated overseas, so she leads an isolated life with her
domestic aide.

Vasanthi is one of her client. Her tuition master had sexually abused her.
As the case prolongs the tuition master flees the country and Vasanthi becomes pregnant.
She attempts to commit suicide. But Shamini explains things to her and agrees to
bring up the baby.

The twists and turns that unfolds after the baby is born and when she grows up,
makes the rest of the story extremely gripping.
