III.1.c.

Engineers shall not accept outside employment to the detriment of their regular work or interest. Before accepting any outside employment they will notify their employers.

Code is relevant when:

Engineer has an employer
AND
Engineer accepts outside employment

Code is violated when:

The outside employment is detrimental to the Engineer's regular work
OR
Engineer does not notify his employer of the outside employment

Code is not violated when

The outside employment is not detrimental to the Engineer's regular work
AND
Engineer notifies his employer of the outside employment
