Calypso Module 1 Review and Discovery
If you aren't sure of an answer, feel free to look at the module again.
- Looking at the Camera Viewer, how can you tell when Cozmo has
recognized a cube?
- A green circle appears around the cube.
- A yellow box appears around the cube.
- The word "cube" appears in the display.
- There is no way to tell.
Answer
b: A yellow box surrounds the cube.
- How are cubes represented on the world map?
- As empty squares
- As actual cubes
- As squares with a number inside
- As squares with a pattern inside
Answer
c: Cubes are shown as squares with a pattern inside that
matches the pattern on the top face of the actual cube.
- How many faces does each light cube have?
- 4
- 5
- 6
- 8
Answer
c: Every cube has six faces and eight corners.
- Examine one of the light cubes carefully. What did you find? Is
it completely symmetric?
__________________________________________
Answer
The cubes are not completely symmetric. The top face has four LEDs
behind translucent plastic covers. The bottom face has a screw which can be removed to replace
the battery.
- Look at the table of markers for each cube. The last two markers in each
row are for the bottom and top faces. How does the bottom marker
differ from the top marker?
- It's a mirror image.
- It's upside-down.
- It's the same; no difference.
- It's rotated 90 degrees.
Answer
a: The top and bottom markers are mirror images.
- How do the top and bottom markers differ from the other markers
for a cube?
- The top and bottom markers are larger.
- The top and bottom markers are missing the underline.
- The top and bottom markers are turned sideways.
- The top and bottom markers have thicker lines.
Answer
b: The top and bottom markers have no underline.
On the side faces, the underline shows which rotation is "right side
up", but this doesn't make sense for the top and bottom
faces.
- If you block Cozmo's view of a cube, what happens on the world map?
- The cube is still shown on the map, but its appearance changes.
- The cube disappears from the map.
- The map is unaffected.
- The cube flashes.
Answer
a: When Cozmo can't see the cube, its
representation on the world map changes to a thin line. When he can see it again,
it's drawn with a thick line.
- How far away can a cube be from Cozmo before he can no longer
recognize it?
_____________________ [ ] inches [ ] mm
Answer
Cozmo can recognize a cube up to about 500 millimeters or 18 inches away.
- If Cozmo is looking at a cube, and you turn the cube, what
happens on the world map?
- The world map is unchanged.
- The box on the world map rotates.
- The box on the world map changes size.
- The robot's position on the world map changes.
Answer
The b: box on the world map rotates, matching the orientation of the cube.
- Looking at the Camera Viewer, how can you tell when Cozmo has
recognized a face?
- A blue circle appears around the face.
- The word "face" appears in the display.
- There is no way to tell.
- A green box appears around the face.
