In Dezember 2009 the International Conference on Formal Engineering Methods (ICFEM) was held in Brasil.

It was extremly humid and quite a shock when I left the plane. On the drive to the hotel I could already see heavily armed police men. That was also rather irritating I have to admit. The hotel was fine, directly located at the Copacabana.

The conference venue was a military institute right next to the Sugarloaf Montain. The location also featured a small beach, which got us into a bit of trouble on the last day. As it turned out it is fine to leave the institute wearing swimming gear and t-shirt. However, you cannot enter it that way. ;)

In August 2008 I had the chance to visit Sydney, Australia for a few days. The International Joint Conference on Automated Reasoning (IJCAR) took place in the local Mercure hotel.

I was able to look around a bit in Sydney. It is a really intersting city much more European than I would have imagined. A lot of pedestrians everywhere. The botanical garden is really nice and of course darling harbour is a must see.

Finally found some time to add photos from previous travels.

In April 2008 I went to St.Louis, Missouri, USA to visit the HSCC. I came there without any real plan how to get to my hotel. I got lucky and met a really nice women on the plane. Her husband was picking her up on the airport and the two dropped me off at my hotel. That was great as I had to find out that my hotel was indeed several miles away from the airport.
