Unconfirmed, but this seems plausible. 1.7.5
disallowed the changing of race and candidate labels after
set-for-election. I bet that change didn't take into account registered
write-ins, which are an exception and allowed to change. 1.8.1 restored
the old behavior for other reasons, so it would be okay.

Could someone please check their 1.7.5 - try
to add registered write-in - it appears to be broken in this release -
am training and it is broken here in Washington -
I would like confirmation by someone else
fixed in 1.8.1 and may need to be addressed if
new computers are installed with 1.7.5
