Steve,

    I found the problem with the smart cards that you sent to use.  These
smart cards are not 'un-written' or 'virgin' cards but rather have all our
password (rather than the factory password) and have our header data on
them. What they did not have was a valid checksum, which resulted in the
'read error'.  I have posted a bug to bugzilla, and I have fixed this
problem. The fix will be release in BallotStation 4.1.15 and 4.3.11, and
VCProgrammer 4.1.7.
