How Much Does Injection Molding Cost?

Making parts with injection molding is not cheap for low volume production because the initial cost of making a mold can run skyhigh. Other than that, most of the cost falls upon the material and mainenence of the machine. Thus injection molding is an ideal process for large volume production since initial cost will eventually be outweighed.

With such a high cost for low volume production, this process does not seem very useful for rapid prototyping purposes, however it is very useful for manufacturing purposes.
