Rocket Launcher

What is the physical principle underlying the toy?

The rocket launcher uses Newton's Third Law of Motion.

What age group is the toy designed for?

This toy is designed for children 8 and older. At this age, children have the motor skills to operate the rocket mechanism and apply enough force to

the foot pad to create lift. Also, children in this age range have excessive amounts of energy and enjoy outdoor activities. This toy is made almost

entirely out of plastic so it is meant to take some abuse and survive the outdoors. The rockets are a nerf material so as not to

hurt anyone who is in its path.

How does the toy work? How do children play with the toy?

The rocket is placed on the shaft that connects to an cushion via an air tube. A child would come up and stomp on the cushion which

pushes the rocket off of the shaft and launches it into the air. A group of children could play with this together, having

competitions to see how high, far, and fast the rockets can go.

Where did the idea for your toy come from?

I have always had an interest in bottle rockets, so this is a different rendition of that. Also, I had a toy similar to this

growing up.
