Examples of Decision Support Systems on the Web
This page contains a listing of decision support systems on the Web.
Some of these links points to systems that may be executed over the
Web, other links point to descriptions of the system. One of the
things we could like to understand in this class is the technical and
organizational implications for making this sort of access to a DSS
possible.
Here is a list of executable decision support systems.
- DSS for
accounting information system reliability assessment developed by
David Kaplan, Ramayya Krishnan, Rema Padman and Jim Peters
- WMTADS
Waste Management and Technologies Analytical Decision Support
WWW Server at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
-
WATERSHEDSS: (Water, Soil, and Hydro- Environmental Decision Support System) from the Carolina
State University.
- Tire
Selector DSS from Goodyear: helps you select the right tire for your vehicle.
- Store
Locator DSS from Goodyear: helps you locate the nearest Goodyear store.
- There are more, but you will have to go to
DecisionNet
for that.
Here is a list of pointers to information about DSS software.
Mathbrowser
from MathCad. This is not executable but gives you information about
valued added web browsers that can deal with executable decision
support systems.
To paraphrase, a Windows-32 bit browser software that can, in addition
to interpreting HTML documents, "view any Mathcad document placed on
the WWW!"
Which & Why Decision
Valuation Software
"decision valuation software that simplifies arranging, prioritizing, and
evaluating criteria. It can help you to structure and compare the relevant variables during the
decision-making process."
DEMOS (Decision
Modeling System from LUMINA)
"visual environment for creating,
analyzing and communicating probabilistic models for business, risk and decision
analysis" using influence diagrams.
GEMS
Geographical Environmental Modeling System at CMU. Describes an interesting spatial DSS
project at CMU.
Decision Support Systems for Water
Managment
DESSERT:
Decision Support Systems and Toolkit for Service Management. DESSERT aims to
support telecom personnel in the formulation of advanced communication service
offerings, and in the deployment of resources to meet customer requirements in a timely
and satisfactory manner.
Groundwater
Modeling Systems:
The Department of Defense Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) is a comprehensive graphical
user environment that provides an interface to several models for numerical groundwater
modeling. GMS provides tools for site characterization, model conceptualization, mesh and
grid generation, geostatistics, and sophisticated tools for graphical visualization.
