Models: Say hello to our gentleman! The environment The house The deer Props for house interior Technical elements: Motion capture We used motion capture data to animate our main character since his body propotion is close to a real person. We hoped this could save us from the tedious process of hand animating. Demo video: mocap demo Hair simulation We used Maya hair to simulate gentleman's hair. About 200 curves were used to guide the shape and movement of the hair. The gentleman's hair appears well groomend at the beginning of the animation. As story progresses, we explode it into an Einstein-like hair by manipulating the curvature of the 200 curves.
Cloth simulation We wanted to use Maya cloth for the gentleman's shirt. Even though the simulation didn't go into the final video, we experimented with cloth tearing and simulating the earphone cord as cloth. Demo video: cloth tearing earphone cord
Mud simulation We wanted to simulate a mud puddle for the main character to slip in. Unfortunatly time constraints limited its implementation into the final work. Demo video: mud demo Subsurface scattering and ambient occlusion We experimented with subsurface scattering materials and ambient occlusion to give the gentleman a realistic skin. We cut these materials in the final video to speed up rendering. Demo video: sss demo |
