james d thomas james d thomas is an expermental artificial intelligence created by Carnegie Mellon University's Project Belgian Doom. There have been AIs writing fiction for years (a few turn out commercial romance novels), but, inspired by the short stories "Pulchritude at Dawn" by Harlan Ellison and "Malted Milk Balls" by Noreen Schumacher, it was decided to try to create an AI that could function as an editor as well.
