I have posted a doc of the newest features in version 2.0 and how to use them: here.

Finally
5/8/2002

I have finally gotten version 2 of the library to a point where people can start using it (for real). Including lots of minor bug fixes, I have added a host of new features including:

  • fully-functional mac os9 version (except for truetype font support -- os9 will never support this, unfortunately)
  • cropping images
  • scaling and rotating images
  • full-screen mode
  • works in codewarrior 6 on the mac and visual studio 6&7 on windows

You can download this from the download page or here:

As usual, email any problems to cm-gfxpkg@cs.cmu.edu or post to the discussion forums.

My apologies -- the discussion forums have been down for a while. I just discovered this and corrected it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No News is Good News
11/8/2001

So there haven't been any posts in about a month, but don't dispair! We still check the discussion forums on a daily basis and respond to emails ASAP. We are working hard on making CarnegieMellonGraphics 2 work on all platforms equally well, and we are close to our goal. We have most of the problems ironed out, and have left some GLUT peculiarities and font issues. We are also simultaneously working on a version for Java, which should have a version rolled out in a month or two.

Documentation for Version 2.0 now online
10/3/2001

A very cool reference for Version 2.0 is now online. The Object/Function reference should be extremely helpful for those just starting out, and will hopefully encourage more people to try out version 2.0!

Discussion Forums are Up!
10/2/2001

The discussion forums are now up, and some of the most recent emails to us have been archived there. Our hope is that people will be able to post questions there instead of by email, and then everyone can benefit. Eventually the archives will be good enough that most questions can be answered just by a simple search. Anyone can post to the forums; you don't have to be a registered user. Just create a new conversation if you have a new question or add a message to a conversation that's already there. Very shortly the forums will be configured to email you when someone replies to your message -- expect a post when that is working. Please post your comments/suggestions/criticism/etc about the package/website/discussion forums in the forums! We're eager to hear what feedback you have for us! (And yes, you can post anonymously. =)

Documentation for CMUgraphics 1.5 online
9/29/2001

Check out the documentation section to see the programming reference for CMUgraphics 1.5 online! It's basically just the comments from the header files online, but it should prove a useful resource.

The Website Finally Got Better! ;-)
9/27/2001

Well, it's been a long time coming ... but here it is. We have completely refaced the site and added a ton more content. Check out the new sections.

We have completely migrated all platforms to CarnegieMellonGraphics 2.0. We are currently not supporting *nix or BeOS, but with a few minor modifications it should work there too. We just don't have enough time or demand to support them. Sorry. (Jevan: Last I checked, it almost works under BeOS, but there are bugs in the implementation of GLUT...and since the acquisition of Be by Palm, who knows what will happen with that platform...). We are also freezing CMUGraphics 1.5.x. You are more than welcome to use the libraries, as they are tried and true, and we will be supporting them. However, be forewarned that your questions may be answered with "Get Version 2.0." =)

Great news for all Mac users! CarnegieMellonGraphics 2.0 now works under Mac OS 9 (and theoretically X) using the Carbon implementation of OpenGL. (Jevan: It should also work in OS 8 and X, but I am unable to test in those environments yet). This has not been thoroughly tested, but we're going to release the beta and see how it goes. The Starter Project was created with CodeWarrior 6.0, but can be recreated in any other IDE without too much headache. Eventually we will have a CodeWarrior 5.0 and Visual C++ project up there as well.
