GRADING

Weekly homework -- worth 20% combined.
Midterm 1 -- worth 20% or 25% (see note).
Midterm 2 -- worth 20% or 25% (see note).
Final -- worth 25%.
Seven Quizzes -- worth 10% combined.

Your grade is your total percentage:
A = 90 - 100% ;
B = 80 - 90% ;
C = 70 - 80% ;
D = 60 - 70% ;

These are hard cutoffs. Do not expect a curve at the end. We will update you after each exam on your current grade.

You will have 2 midterms. Your lower midterm score will be weighted by 20%, while your higher midterm score will be weighted by 25%.

Attendance in the class will be monitored. We are also tracking who speaks in class (based on candy distribution). We may add 0-3% to your total grade at the end depending on how much you have participated compared to others.

Because life is unpredictable, we will drop your 1 lowest homework score and your 2 lowest quiz scores in determining your grade. Please save up these drops for when you get sick or need to travel.

HOMEWORK/LATENESS

Homework will go out each week on Friday. When the homework goes out, you already have all the material you need to do it that day. Homework will be due each week the following Friday at 12:50 pm sharp. Start right away! You must get the homework in on time because we give out solutions during recitation. There are no late days (not even late minutes). Please do not ask for these. However we will drop your 1 lowest homework score at the end of the class. Please save up your drop for when you're sick or traveling. Homework is graded within a couple days. You can submit a regrade request on Gradescope (including a detailed explanation of why you think you were misgraded) within 2 days of when you get your homework grade. You will find the homework under the Homeworks tab from the class website. You will turn in homework on Gradescope, which will also track your grades.
