Course Rules
Watch for updates! This file was last updated on March 14, 2003.
In order to successfully complete this course, you should abide by the following rules, which exist to protect you and your classmates and maintain fairness.
Failure to do so will directly affect your grade.
Lectures:
- Laptops are not allowed in class because they distract the instructor and your classmates. There will be notes on the web in the form of slides before every lecture. If you need to keep additional notes, use pen and paper.
- All devices such as laptops, cell phones, noisy PDAs, etc. should be turned off for the duration of the lecture is and the recitations.
- You are expected to come to all lectures on time and leave on time. Do not arrive late or leave early, because this is annoying to both the instructor and your classmates.
Sickness and travel
- If you are sick and you need special treatment, your request will only be considered if you bring a doctor's certificate. For late assignments, however, you should use your slip days.
- If you travel home and for any reason return late, you should state and prove the reason (see above) and also provide your ticket that proves your travel dates.
Regrading Requests
- Regrading requests should be done in writing, via e-mail to the TAs and the instructor, at the latest 48 hours after graded exams or assignments are distributed by the instructor or the TAs.
- If you request that a certain part of an exam or an assignment be regraded, be advised that your entire exam or assignment will be subject to regrading. This means that your grade may go up or down.
