Pulley Crane Bath Toy
- Children will interact with the Pulley Crane by turning the two cranks to raise and lower the buckets and rotate the crane. The bottom of each bucket will snap open or shut. Water from the bucket can be released down the slide. The toy base will be may out of buoyant plastic and the toy will include an arm which can attach to the edge of a bath tub.
- The toy is based on the concept of the best simple machine: the pulley. Other concepts that the children will explore include gears and water flow.
- The toy should be relatively cheap to construct since it should be made of soft, durable plastic and one "cable" which can be made of thread or can be a chain of plastic. The cost to the consumer should be about $25. As long as the cable is made well and the tower of the crane is made sufficiently thick, the toy should be very durable. Since all components are fairly large pieces of plastic, the toy should be highly safe for children in the 4-10-year-old target demographic.
