Latanya Sweeney, associate professor of computer science, technology and policy, will be inducted this fall as a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. Sweeney, director and founder of the Data Privacy Lab, will be one of the few fellows who is not affiliated with a medical center or with a university that has a medical school.

Her work on data privacy has led to improvements in medical privacy regulation and practice and has been recognized with numerous honors, including the American Psychiatric Association's Privacy Advocacy Award.

The ACMI has about 300 fellows and its membership each year elects between 15 and 20 new fellows.
