Blue Belt Technologies, a Carnegie Mellon spinoff that includes a number of School of Computer Science alumni and faculty members, has received FDA clearance to market its avioPFSâ„¢ orthopedic surgical system. It is the first spinoff of the Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creations (CTTEC) to receive such clearance.
Among Blue Belt's staff members are co-founder Dr. Anthony DiGioia III, an adjunct faculty member in the Robotics Institute; co-founder Branko Jaramaz, associate research professor of robotics; and two former Robotics Institute staff members: robotics director Jim Moody and software development director Costa ikou (CS'96, '99).
