Venture capitalists and investment experts will converge with Carnegie Mellon University's entrepreneurship and technology community at LaunchCMU, a showcase for startups, cutting-edge research and innovations poised to impact the marketplace.
The schedule of events includes a demonstration of new products and services and showcase talks by the innovators of successful startup companies. The program, returning to Silicon Valley for its third iteration, is spearheaded by CMU’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Founders and leaders of featured startup companies, including Anki, 4Moms, Blue Belt Technologies Inc., Platypus, IAM Robotics LLC, and TerrAvion, will share technology and marketplace insights. They will be joined in remarks by Manuela Veloso, the Herbert A. Simon University Professor of Computer Science, and Illah R. Nourbakhsh, professor of robotics at CMU’s Robotics Institute and director of the CREATE Lab, which explores socially meaningful innovation and deployment of robotic technologies.
The application of emerging technologies in health care, manufacturing, industrial safety, fashion, entertainment, education and other key market sectors will be displayed by more than two dozen startups including: Algorithmia, BandPass, Care Across, Collected, EdOptimize, Heragen, IAM Robotics LLC, iBreathSports, NREC: National Robotics Engineering Center, OpenCurriculum, PECA Labs, PRHQL, PieceMaker, Qualaris, Road Rules, SemanticMD, SoluNova, Tailored Fit, Tartan Rescue: C.H.I.M.P, Trance, and Zen Rez.
