Max Levchin, an entrepreneur, investor in early-stage startups and a co-founder of PayPal and Yelp, will visit Carnegie Mellon Oct. 21.

The School of Computer Science will host Max Levchin, an entrepreneur, investor in early-stage startups and a co-founder of PayPal and Yelp, for his Oct. 21 visit to Carnegie Mellon University as part of a University Tech Tour organized by HVF, his San Francisco-based innovation and investment lab.

He will join David Mawhinney, co-director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, for a 5:30 p.m. “Fireside Chat” in the Gates and Hillman center’s Rashid Auditorium focusing on consumer finance and healthcare.  He is also scheduling an open pitch session with students who want to propose startup ideas or products for HVF’s consideration from 3 to 5 p.m. in room 4405 of the Gates and Hillman centers. All events, including a late afternoon reception, require registration through Eventbrite.

Levchin is the CEO of Affirm, a next-generation financial services company offering consumer credit at the point of sale; and chairman of Glow, a women’s health and fertility company — both launched by HVF. He also serves on the boards of Yahoo, Yelp and Evernote.
