A new study led by the genealogy company Ancestry analyzed 770,000 DNA samples to map how people moved and married in post-colonial America – weaving together genetics and geography to better understand human history. Authors of the study, published in the journal Nature Communications, include Theodore Roman, a student in the joint CMU-Pitt computational biology Ph.D. program who interned at Ancestry, and Ross Curtis, who joined Ancestry after earning his Ph.D. in computational biology at CMU in 2011.
