I am currently a second year master student at the Language Technology Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. I am advised by Ian Lane and Alan Black. My research interests (broadly) are language modeling, machine translation, and information retrieval.

Previously, I received a B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. During my undergraduate, I worked on problems in speech processing, speech segmentation, and analyzing queuing networks among others. I also worked briefly at IBM Research India trying to improve statistical machine translation for Indian Languages. The problems I worked on include handling word reordering, morphology during translation, improving word alignment for parallel text, etc. I also worked on semi-supervised approaches for extracting answers from threads in discussion forums.
