Ayden's Pre-Birthday Celebration

We were all set to leave for the party. We are having Ayden's birthday party this year at a pony place. So daddy and mommy had been working on the list of things to bring to the venue so that we have everything we need there. Check out the balls, balloon kits, ride-ons and food/beverages... All is ready except that the birthday boy was still sound asleep in his room.... Oops!!!

We got there about 10 mins before the party begun. You can imagine daddy and mommy rushing to set up - blowing the balloons, putting out the food, drinks and getting everything organized. Ayden couldn't wait to get into the bouncy house but hold on... it's a Princess bouncy house. Hmmm... we need to get that fixed. Alas, 5 mins later we had a red bouncy house that reflects the true color of the birthday boy.  :P 

Believe it or not, the first guests arrived at 3.30pm SHARP. Haha... Parag and Linh were kindly enough to help us set up while the boys starting planning their afternoon here. Before long everybody is here and the party officially begun. The kids made a head start for their choice of activities - driving, riding, bouncing, and some are just slowing warming up to the new environment...

Ayden had his first pony ride. We weren't sure if he was gonna ride the pony since he had never actually been upclose to a "real" one. But when we were finally able to distract him from the bouncy house and moved on to the ponies, we asked him if he wanted to ride and he said "yes". He put on the helmet and off he went! He seemed so confident on the pony. .. Yippee Hurray!!!! We are now thinking maybe we should let him start riding lesson soon :)

The adults were having fun too! There are so many kids and activities everywhere and of course, the parents were all trailing behind their little ones. Occasionally one parent would be able to sneak away and socialize among their peers but hey... look at the number of pictures we have here and you can guess how rare that opportunity was.

It's time for cake! Got to do all the "standard protocol" - birthday song, candle, cake! The kids had fruit cake (vanilla cake with tons of fruits in the center) while the adults enjoyed the mango mousse cake (my favorite!!! :P) Ayden was very excited to blow the candle but he couldn't wait long enough for mommy to finish cutting the cake even. As usual, mommy ate his share of the cake since he was too busy doing whatever he was doing.

It was a fun 2-hour. The kids got to ride the ponies once again after the cake. Ayden had another round of rides too. Some headed home after that while others enjoyed more play in the bouncy house while daddies and mommies socialized.

We were disciplined enough to wait till after dinner to open the presents, else Ayden would be too excited with his new toys to eat anything. He was a good helper - carrying the big bag and package over for mommy to open. He wanted to play with each one of them as soon as it was opened and we had to keep telling him we were gonna open everything first and then choose some to play with. You bet it's a hard task. Everything looks so fun!
