CNC Milling is not an expensive process; however it is very costly to purchase and mantain your own CNC machine.

To CNC a part, the following costs must be covered:

  • MATERIALS: CNC can cut objects from a solid block, usually metal, wax, or wood. All of these materials are plentiful and inexpensive.
  • LABOR: A machinist must watch over the CNC mill as it runs, and bolt down the solid blocks after it is done making each peice.
  • OTHER: Lubricant, Mill Bits.

Purchasing a CNC Machine is very expensive. New models continually become more precise; and the cost continually rises. Additionally, mantaining the machine, especially frequently replacing the mill bits, can become expensive.
