The Flip Walker
Sketch #2
Description
- This toy is similar to the Aggressive Box in that curiosity intially the child to push the walker forward. Once initiated, it seemingly "rolls", much to the child's entertainment.
- A motor situated in the middle of the structure push a large vertical column forward. This changes the equilibrium of the device and pushes the "feet" forward. The motor then sustains momentum. The feet are geared to stay perfectly horizontal, no matter the arrangement of the main structure.
- Construction cost include several wooden dowels (~$2), internal gearing (~$3), a DC stepper motor ($1), cardboard ($.50), and particle board ($2). In total, the toy would cost around $7.50 to build. Again, mass production would most likely halve the cost.
