SPRING 2009
|
COURSE WORKAll homework assignments must be handed in on time. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Late or missing work will receive a 0. The reason this is done is so that we can get feedback to you as quickly as possible so you can prepare for the exams. Additionally, it allows us to post a sample solution as soon as possible for the benefit of all students. You are allowed to drop 1 homework assignment without penalty. (You are still responsible for understanding the material on the dropped homework.) A short quiz will be given once each week (except weeks with written exams) at the beginning of class. There are no makeups for quizzes. Quizzes are designed to encourage you to review the course material regularly before class so you can keep up with the course and perform well. Each quiz has a maximum score of 5 and the maximum total you can accumulate through the semester is 50 points. NEW FOR SPRING 2009: There is a new one-hour lab each week that will introduce you to some beginning principles in algorithmic thinking and programming using Python. Attendance in lab is mandatory and will count toward your lab grade. Additionally, there will be 2 short lab exams that will test your basic knowledge of material covered in the lab. You must take all exams (written and lab exams) at the times they are given. NO MAKEUPS FOR EXAMS will be allowed except for acceptable documented circumstances (e.g. major illness, death in immediate family, university-sanctioned event with verification from advisor/coach, etc.). |
