We tried out a number of different things with rendering the shadows. For sake of simplicity, we decided to use a complex maya shader network that takes into account the camera position, height-mapping, and several different textures to render each shadow. Below are one of the biggest decisions we had to make: whether to make shadows' feet completely disappear or have it be 2-dimensional
