During your free time in Qatar, you can explore Doha on your own, or you can take advantage of some of the following activities, organized through Qatar International Adventures, a local operator with whom CMU-Qatar has worked for years.

Organized Activities

LPAR'08 will make arrangements for the following excursion which will take place on Tuesday 25 November 2008. The excursion is complimentary for registered participants. . Ticket for accompanying persons can be purchased at the conference.

Desert Safari

Desert Safari This adventurous journey will take you to the great sand dunes that adorn the South of Qatar. Where the asphalt ends, the 4x4 professional drivers will deflate the tires to make the vehicle ready for your breathtaking trip across the desert. The unforgettable roller-coaster drive will take you to the marvelous Inland Sea, near the border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and end at QIA's permanent desert camp on its sandy beaches. There, you can relax and just enjoy the tranquility of the view, or keep moving with a swim in the Inland Sea's crystal waters, a game of beach volleyball, or sand skiing. All this is while a professional chef is preparing a BBQ meal including soft drinks and water. The camp is equipped with Bedouin0style tents, carpeted and with traditional seating, fresh water for showers, and bathrooms.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner of LPAR'08 takes place on Monday 24 November at Assaha, an atmospheric Lebanese restaurant with some of the best food in Doha. The dinner is complimentary for registered participants. Ticket for accompanying persons can be purchased at the conference.

Dhow Boat

Dinner Cruise

In the typical LPAR way, there will also 'see you next year' dinner on Wednesday 26 November. This year, it will take place on a traditional boat cruising the waters of Doha bay. The dinner and cruise are complimentary for registered participants. Ticket for accompanying persons can be purchased at the conference.

Board a dhow, the traditional wooden Qatari boat, an enjoy a relaxing ride on the tranquil waters of the Arabian Sea while soft music is playing in harmony with waves. From time to time, look at Doha's futuristic skyline behind you but then slip back into the millenial simplicity of the sea. The trip will take you to Al Saflia Island or Banana Island. There a professional chef will prepare a BBQ dinner on board while you enjoy a twilight swim, dance to the music or meditate under the sky.
