Happy fox squirrel

(6) Cheery-looking fox squirrel spotted in Schenley Park and photographed via the E-1, 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at 200mm, f/8, 1/200s, ISO 400. Tonal range adjusted using Oly Studio's Image Edit functions, specifically Auto Tone Correct, cropped, and downscaled 50% along each dimension.

Ducks leaving

(7) Ducks leaving the water. Not exactly a technically great shot; it's tricky using a long lens on an overcast day without flash and on live subjects. 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at 137mm, 1/125s, f/5.6, ISO 800. 50% crop.

Cardinals

(8) Technically awful; quite a bit of noise, and too much blur for my taste. Still, compositionally, this is perhaps the most interesting cardinal shot I've ever taken -- one male, one female, possibly looking at each other. While the males, at least, are relatively easy to spot with their flashy red, so far they've been elusive subjects. 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at 200mm, 1/200s, f/5.6, ISO 800. Pushed a bit during post-processing. 100% crop.

Mallards

(9) Four male mallards (the fourth is almost entirely obscured by the third), with the second perhaps having a bit of an attitude. Low angle; I lay prone next to the water to get this shot. Maybe the VA-1 angle finder would have made it easier, but I'd still need to be low to the ground. Shot with the 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at 200mm, 1/80s, f/5.6, ISO 800, processed a bit. 50% crop.

Medevac heli

(10) Practicing on helicopters on an overcast, sometimes rainy day. Seriously cropped, lots of contrast enhancement and tonal correction, downsized 50% along each dimension. Shot with the 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at 200mm, f/5.6, 1/4000s (!), ISO 800. Memo to self: to show motion of helicopter blades, shoot at slower than 1/4000s.
