Unearthly explosions

(1) Hm, did this really happen on Earth? Those are quite some funky fireworks.

Trees?

(2) Case in point -- the thick smoke trails thrown up by some rockets, and the relatively restricted explosions, made this multisecond exposure result in something looking like alien trees in a sandstorm -- perhaps with glowing spiders with purple legs flying around.

Dragonfly

(3) A dragonfly briefly rests. Unlike most of the images on these pages, this is not properly a thumbnail; instead, a 720x540 crop was first taken from the 2048x1536 image, and then resized to 512x384. Shot taken with the Tiffen attached, and with my camera set in "macro" (not really; it doesn't focus that closely), handheld.

Dragonfly

(4) A dragonfly, seen from above. Unlike most of the images on these pages, this is not properly a thumbnail; instead, a 762x1016 crop was first taken from the 2048x1536 image, and then resized to 384x512. Shot taken with the Tiffen teleconverter, and with camera set in "macro" mode, handheld.

Web

(5) Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly. Pity the spider seems to be absent here.
