DFINITY Foundation is a nonprofit organization and a major contributor to the Internet Computer, a blockchain-based platform that hosts general-purpose applications represented as WebAssembly modules. Applications are executed in a decentralized manner, replicated over many nodes using Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus and novel cryptographic protocols. Since launch in May 2021, the Internet Computer nodes have executed over 2 quintillion (2*10^18) WebAssembly instructions for more than 300,000 applications.
