A clear understanding should be reached before the beginning of the
work regarding the respective rights of ownership when an engineer or
manufacturer and a customer may jointly work out designs and plans or
develop inventions.

- Code is relevant when:
- Engineer has a client
AND
Engineer and the client work jointly on designs, plans, or inventions
- Code is violated when:
- Engineer does not reach a clear understanding with the client before the beginning of work regarding respective ownership of the designs, plans, or inventions.
- Code is not violated when:
- Engineer reaches a clear understanding with the client before the beginning of work regarding respective ownership of the designs, plans, or inventions.
