Recommendations
Recommendations are a critical part of our process to evaluate you as a whole person. We encourage you to consider your choices carefully and to select those people you believe are most qualified to evaluate your previous performance and comment on your potential to achieve your goals at Carnegie Mellon University.
There are two sets of recommendation forms, one set for people who will evaluate you in an adacemic setting and one set for people who will evaluate you in an industrial or commercial setting.
The Family Education Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) (Buckley Amendment) gives you the right to review your education records, should you enroll at Carnegie Mellon. The act further provides that you may waive this right to see recommendations for admission. You need to decide whether or not you wish to retain or waive your rights to see the completed recommendations and select which files to download accordingly.
