Open to all members of the Carnegie Mellon Community

The School of Computer Science invites all members of the CMU community to participate in the 31st Annual CMU Mobot Slalom Race in the spring of 2025. MOBOT (MObile roBOTs) entrants race autonomous vehicles along a slalom course on the paved walk in front of Wean Hall. The course consists of a series of gates connected by a wavy, painted stripe. Vehicles will be judged on their ability to navigate sequentially through the gates.

We periodically host a Fall Open House and Spring Information Session, to assist anyone unsure of the plans or having questions. Two official competitions are typically held during the Spring Semester: the $99 Mini Challenge and Clinic on Wednesday, March 28 (this is intended as a testing day for your vehicles; and the final competition during Spring Carnival, on Friday, April 4. The preliminary competition provides an opportunity for contestants to run the course under race conditions, and will encourage early development of vehicles.

NOTE: The $99 Challenge will not be held in 2025 if sufficient teams are unable to take advantage of the testing period, but the Clinic and Testing is open to all teams (whether the challenge occurs or not).
