Daphne is just looking for social activity, so she searches for events first. Once she finds an event that looks exciting, she then chooses a dish to bring and registers, providing among other things her credit card number and email address so Mix It Up! can send her reminder emails. Later, she’ll return to fill out a review of the event she attended.

Hank is trying to get rid of his fish surplus, but have a fun social time doing it. Thus, he searches first based on his food constraint, and from there he checks the details of the event for compatibility with his own preferences. Then, like Daphne, he registers.
