(the OTHERS shout: "Hurrah!", etc., their chatter forgotten)

--: Is it about death?

--: (sotto voce) Is it about Man’s quest for human truth? (a nasty laugh from one or two)

STEVE: It’s about a very successful man and his adventures, and it begins in a quiet village…

NARRATOR (Dirk): Once upon a time, there was a man who was successful in all things.

WIFE (Shawn): Oh, Dearest, what a wondrous skill Heaven has blessed you with! I have married a prince among men.

MAN (Steve): (with slow realization) I…I want to know Truth!
