51 | HERCULES:
About time! Give me something to do, by Jupiter! ZEUS: Oh. Yes. Something to do. Very well. (His voice, which until now has been low but not particularly impressive, is suddenly treated with echo, mounting thunder, etc.) Oh faithful Hercules, thy Lord and Maker Zeus finds it just and fitting that thou shouldst perform this task, thusly: (clears throat briefly) Raise the boulder that blocks thy path, this ponderous slab of granite that mocks my creation and stymies thy noble purpose! |
|
52 | SFX: ZEUSs command rumbling and dying away into silence
53 | HERCULES:
What?! Thats stupid! I
Ive killed the Lion of Nemea! ZEUS: (normal voice) Nevertheless, that is the task. |
|
54 | HERCULES: (grumbling
to himself) Ill never be a god doing tasks like this... MUSIC: The familiar "monolith" notes from Thus Spake Zarathustra sound |
|
55 | HERCULES: Right!
Ive done it. Now what? MUSIC: As slide changesthe resolution. (Its the third resolution, though, not the minor one which youd expect, denoting great triumph!) SFX: After HERCULESs line, a "magically being whisked away" sound effect crosses from left to right |
|
56 | MUSIC: Have Mercy | |

ZEUS: (shouting over the din, with building effects) This hideous creature is the Three-Headed Idiot of Samothrace, a beast whose shadow looms long in song and legend. For your second task, I demand that you rid the air of this vile pestilence and restore the gentle breath of Aeolius to this stricken land.
59 | HERCULES:
Butyoure joking! After slaying the foul Hydra? You call this a task? ZEUS: Quickly, before the second verse! |
|
60 | SFX: Steel
sliding through a THREE-HEADED IDIOT SFX: Record winds down rapidly |
